Purpose
The purpose of this Self Assessment
System is to provide the personnel, with a tool to help in the
evaluation process of the various competences needed across a
company.
It is a self-assessment, designed
to help the detection of knowledge or know-how domains where more
training is needed. It can be exploited individually, in group
sessions, or with the presence of an instructor.
The tool is loaded with sample of
questions. The tool includes a powerful question generator and
questions editing capabilities. It is downloadable from an Internet
server, together with a minimum set of clipart to be used when
graphical representation is needed.
Data Bases
The data is organised in various
data bases (areas, subjects, competences, questions, possible
solutions, results,..) for a maximum of flexibility (reuse, merge,
import, export, translate). The experience shows that the process
induces an in depth thinking about the competences needed for
classes of employees. The effort is thus paying-off very quickly.
Graphics
CheckPoint makes extensive use of
graphical representations . It supports object placements, drag and
drop of graphical elements ( picture to picture, picture to text,
text to picture ). Hence it is also particularly suited for
professions where the object recognition is critical (workshop,
assembly line, hospitals,..).
International
All the interfaces, buttons,
messages are extractable and can be easily translated . There is an
import utility program to reinject the translated versions in the
system. The same is true for the questions and the solutions. The
system is thus fully international.
Application domains
The application domains of
CHECKPOINT are numerous :
 |
after a course |
 |
when there is personnel
mobility, to allow people to understand their training gap |
 |
to measure, in the field,
the return of training investment |
 |
to help training managers to
focus on the priorities |
 |
for hiring and preselection
of candidates |
 |
before taking the decision
on a training investment, to detect the priorities and the
real skills gaps. |
General Process
| Step 1
Prepare the
structure of the data bases in the Teacher / Structure module.
The instructors or subject matter experts use a library of
template of predefined question modes (drag and drop, objects
placements, fill in the blanks, true and false, multiple
choice).
Step 2
Prepare and organise
the test suites in the Test Edit part of the Teacher module. For
instance, in this step, the random selection rules are defined.
Step 3
Identification, selection of a
test suite and pass the test.
Step 4
Look at the scores and
review the missed questions. |
